Mary DuBuisson’s Voting Record is OUT-OF-TOUCH with Slidell values!

• DuBuisson is the ONLY Republican legislator inLouisiana to vote against the pro-life law that protects babies from elective abortion (June 2, 2022).
• DuBuisson collaborates on legislation with pro-abortion attorneys who represent the abortion industry.

Mary DuBuisson is WRONG About Louisiana Law.

• On multiple occasions, Rep. Mary Dubuisson has made outrageous statements about Louisiana law.  In a mail piece sent by her to voters on September 10, she said that, because of Louisiana law on abortion, Louisiana women “are now forced to carry dead fetuses to term.”  She said almost an identical statement at the State Capitol before the House Criminal Justice Committee on May 16, 2023.
• This is completely false. State law empowers doctors to help women facing the tragedy of miscarriage.  State law on abortion specifically states that miscarriage management is not an abortion. Here is what RS 14.87.1(1)(b) says

“Abortion shall not mean any one or more of the following acts, if performed by a physician:

“(ii)The removal of a dead unborn child or the inducement or delivery of the uterine contents in case of a positive diagnosis, certified in writing in the woman’s medical record along with the results of an obstetric ultrasound test, that the pregnancy has ended or is in the unavoidable and untreatable process of ending due to spontaneous miscarriage, also known in medical terminology as spontaneous abortion, missed abortion, inevitable abortion, incomplete abortion, or septic abortion.”

• Even the state’s medical authority, the Louisiana Board of Medical Examiners, agrees that doctors can help mothers facing miscarriage. In their “Statement of Position on Guidance Relating to Termination of Pregnancy” published in July 27 2022, the Louisiana Board of Medical Examiners said the following:

“The law allows certain physicians to lawfully terminate a pregnancy under specified conditions and circumstances, consistent with ethical and professional standards. These include … (ii) the removal of a dead unborn child or the inducement or delivery of the uterine contents in case of a positive diagnosis, certified in writing in the woman’s medical record along with the results of an obstetric ultrasound test, that the pregnancy has ended or is in the unavoidable and untreatable process of ending due to spontaneous miscarriage, also known in medical terminology as spontaneous abortion, missed abortion, inevitable abortion, incomplete abortion, or septic abortion;….”

•  Sadly, Mary Dubuisson doesn’t understand the law. You deserve a State Representative who will get the facts right!
